The Digital Revolution
In time for our project with Film we were shown a documentary about the Digital Revolution and the uprising of some of Hollywoods most exciting directors. A lot of these films, almost all of them, I hadn't actually seen before.
We looked at Directors such as Quentin Tarantino who is famous for his coveted collection of creations including:
- Resevoir Dogs 1992
- True Romance 1993
- Pulp Fiction 1994
- Jackie Brown 1997
- Kill Bill Vol 1 2003
- Kill Bill Vol 2 2004
- Inglorious Basterds 2009
and
- Django Unchained 2013
The documentary touched upon subjects that covered Tarantios use of mundane, real life dialogue that is used in heightened situations, his homage to other film makers through his use of transcription, his post modernism and of course his re-occuring cast members.
The documentary also covered other film makers such as Gus Van Sandt, Matthew Barney, Baz Lurhman and Jane Campion. Although I hadn't ever come across many of these directors and film makers it was really interesting watching the documentary and seeing how each of them compares and what makes them all so unique.
The seven basic plots of any film are:
- Overcoming the Monster
- Rags to Ritches
- The Quest
- Voyage and Return
- Comedy
- Tragedy
- Rebirth.
